It is during times like these that I am proud to be a part of the Pflugerville Education Foundation, working to fund and sustain innovative teaching strategies. Now, more than ever, innovation in education is critical to the success of our children as we respond to the COVID-19 crisis.
We recognize the exemplary students and educators who are responding to today’s challenges with ingenuity, compassion, resilience, and fortitude. This year we have pivoted to include supporting Pflugerville families supplying them with donations to meet their most basic needs such as food and other essentials.
PEF raises money through employee-giving, targeted fundraising campaigns like “$10,000 for 100 New Teachers”, and our two main fundraising events, the Schoolhouse Scramble Golf Tournament and our first ever Virtual Gala.
I’ve lived within PfISD for sixteen years, but I first learned about the Foundation when I was invited to attend their Annual Gala in 2014. From there I joined the Gala committee as a volunteer and not long after that, I became a board member, my commitment to the Foundation increasing each year based on the honor of working with the outstanding group of community leaders that we are privileged to have on the Board of Directors. I am always amazed at the Board’s dedication, even in times of crisis, to continue their commitment to keep “Moving Students Forward” despite challenges they may be experiencing in their own lives and businesses.
We have restructured our organization to include a Governance Committee to help ensure our organization meet its full potential.
This year hasn’t been easy, but we must continue to move forward as a community. Now more than ever, your donations will make a difference in the lives of the children and teachers of Pflugerville. Today is the rainy day that you’ve been saving for.
