Greetings!
I am honored to step into the role of President of the Pflugerville Education Foundation.
Fourteen years ago, my wife Carmen and I chose Pflugerville to be our new hometown
specifically because of Pflugerville ISD. It was then (and remains to this day) the best school
district in Central Texas for our grandchildren. That success is rooted in a supportive community,
and I immediately rolled up my sleeves and joined Team Pflugerville, volunteering on multiple
PTOs and District committees.
It goes without saying that I was honored when, three years ago, I was invited to join the
Pflugerville Foundation Board (PEF). It is comprised of a team of extremely talented and
energized individuals. I was immediately struck by the time and commitment dedicated to PEF.
They do it for the love of education, our students, and our teachers.
PEF excels at creating and sustaining a culture of community support where students can (and
do) excel. Nonetheless, over the past two years, those on the frontlines have faced immense
classroom challenges. As the bottom line for public education (and parents’ pocketbooks) gets
squeezed, classroom resources for innovative teaching strategies often fall to the side. And that is
where the Pflugerville Education Foundation steps in: To fill the gap!
Filling the gap would not be possible without the generosity of our community members,
business partnerships, PfISD employees, PEF Board members, and others. Your donations
translate into student scholarships, grants and professional development scholarships for current
educators and teachers, and the campus grant. We are forever thankful for your ongoing support
of PEF initiatives.
The Board has a great year planned, including the Annual Schoolhouse Scramble Golf
Tournament and Gala. Your continued donations are truly appreciated as they are essential if we
are to continue to grow and expand our positive impact on PfISD. Every dollar raised goes
directly to Pflugerville students and teachers. Please join us during the upcoming year as we
begin Soaring to New Heights.
In Appreciation,
Charlie Torres, President
Pflugerville Education Foundation
